Mitchell and Donaldson reflect on Reagan

News veterans Sam Donaldson and Andrea Mitchell were among those at The Motion Picture Association of America on Monday for a discussion about Ronald Reagan’s legacy. Panelists shared stories about their encounters and relationships with Reagan. “The fact is that he was interested in people and that is, I think, something that’s really terrbily important to any president,” Mitchell shared. Donaldson then asked her, “Could [Reagan] be nominated by today’s Republican base?” Mitchell didn’t hesitate. Yes, she told the newsman, “because of his likability for one thing, and I think he was able to explain compromise [by making] it understandable to people.”
