Spielberg holding ‘Lincoln’ until after 2012 election

Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg is set to start shooting his new docu-drama, “Lincoln,” in Richmond this fall — starring Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th president of the United States and Sally Field as his wife — but he’s said he won’t release the movie until after the 2012 election, supposedly because it might cause political tension during an already-heated White House race. “I didn’t want it to become political fodder,” he said while discussing the film, which is based on Doris Kearns Goodwin‘s best-seller, “Team of Rivals” and chronicles the last four months of Lincoln’s life.
