Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal went toe-to-toe with three other GOP presidential candidates, routinely butting heads with South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham calling out the Republican leadership in Congress. Afterward his campaign sought to spin the analysis in his favor.
“In tonight’s debate, Governor Jindal neutered the Republican establishment in D.C.,” said Timmy Teepell, Jindal’s campaign manager, in a statement. “The Republican establishment in D.C. is the surrender caucus. They backed down on repealing Obamacare, stopping a dangerous Iran deal, and defunding Planned Parenthood. Republican voters are angry at Republicans in D.C. and they should be. It’s time for us to fight for what we believe in.”
Jindal, who placed 11th in the Washington Examiner‘s newest power rankings, failed to meet the polling threshold necessary to make the prime time stage. Jindal received the support of fewer than 1 percent of voters in RealClearPolitics’ average of national polls. Jindal has gone directly at Trump in recent days as part of an effort to improve his standing.
