Hundreds attend memorial service for James Foley

Slain journalist James Foley had a “wealth of strength and courage” that came from his faith and family, friend Jeremy Osgood said Saturday at his memorial service.

Hundreds of people attended Foley’s memorial in Rochester, N.H., according to the Associated Press. Today would have been the devout Roman Catholic’s 41st birthday.

The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria released a video in August of a British-accented jihadist beheading Foley, which the White House denounced as an act of terrorism.

Foley had been a hostage since Thanksgiving of 2012.
