Actress Cheryl Hines knows a thing or two about being Larry David’s wife. And she loves Al Gore.
But when it comes to addressing reports of a Laurie David-Al Gore affair that flew from the pages of Star Magazine last week, the “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star doesn’t want to go there.
“I have absolutely no comment,” the actress who plays Larry David’s TV wife told Yeas & Nays. “It’s very dangerous territory.
Does she think it’s true?
“I don’t have any comment,” she laughed.
She did, however, have praise for the couple involved in the tabloid’s story.
“I have the utmost respect for Al Gore and Laurie David,” she said. “I love him.”
And she also gushed about Larry David. “I had the time of my life playing his wife,” she said.
Hines and her brother, Chris, were in town for a cerebral palsy event at the British ambassador’s residence Thursday night. Chris Hines’ son was diagnosed with the disease and the actress has become an advocate for United Cerebral Palsy ever since. The Hines were en route to Washington when they heard the tabloid reports that Al and Tipper Gore’s separation was caused by Al Gore’s two-year-long affair with Laurie David, Larry David’s ex-wife.
“Al and Laurie went from friends to lovers,” a source told Star Magazine. “It couldn’t be avoided.”
While Laurie David quickly denied the allegations, it at least created some buzz around “Curb Your Enthusiasm.”
But luckily for Hines, who played Cheryl David on the made-to-look-like-reality HBO series, nobody has confused her with Laurie David. Yet.
“Cut to next week: ‘Cheryl Hines had an affair with Al Gore,’ ” she joked.
