Let the Christmas season begin — at least at the White House.
First lady Michelle Obama on Friday accepted the White House Christmas tree.
Joined by daughters Sasha and Malia and family dogs Bo and Sunny, the first lady examined the tree.
“We’re taking” it, she told reporters.
This year’s tree is in the Blue Room for holiday tours. The White House Christmas tree has been displayed in the Blue Room every year since 1966.
The 18.5-foot Douglas Fir was grown by Chris Botek, a second generation Christmas tree farmer from Crystal Spring Tree Farm in Lehighton, Pa., according to the White House.
It’s been a week of holiday festivities at the White House. On Wednesday, president Obama officially pardoned two turkeys, Mac and Cheese, joking that some would call his move “amnesty.”
