Kim Kardashian: Kanye is ‘serious’ about White House run

Ever since his surprise presidential announcement at MTV’s Video Music Awards in August, everyone has been wondering if Kanye West really plans to run for president in 2020.

His wife, Kim Kardashian, seems to think her husband fully intends to follow through on this promise. She said as much in an interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” Wednesday.

“I believe he is serious,” she told DeGeneres. “And I know if he puts his mind to something, he will do his best. It’s been fascinating just hearing all the conversations that have gone on since that announcement. I don’t know if that was planned and I just didn’t know about it, or if he came up with that idea right then and there.”

She said that West’s announcement was “news to me,” and that it “wasn’t a discussion in our household.”

DeGeneres brought up West’s admission that he was high during his VMA speech, which might mean it was a spur-of-the-moment decision.

“That’s a big thing to not talk to your wife about,” Kardashian said, before adding, “I think it would be so much fun to be in the White House.”

She said she is already planning for a two-term President West, but for reasons that go beyond politics.

“I was joking with him,” she said. “I was like, you’re going to have to make it to a second term because he loves redecorating. So I was like, you’re going to want to redo the whole White House and you’re not going to be able to enjoy it. So you’ll have to go with the flow.”

West’s name has been brought up in relation to politics a lot since that infamous speech. Donald Trump said that West “loves” him during a speech in early December, and the Democratic Party’s Twitter account tweeted out its support of a 2020 Kanye West presidential bid:
