Surely the prize for most prominent A-listers not to show up to the dinner were Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner.
Garner even had a head start: she had been in earlier last week to lobby for early childhood education, but flew to Boston for the remainder of the week.
The couple were invited by CBS News, and according to one CBS insider, didn’t tell the network they couldn’t make it until the last minute, when a car service had already been dispatched to pick them up in Boston for their trip to the airport.
“They were 100 percent confirmed,” said our source, who added CBS had paid for all their travel and accommodations.
But an Affleck spokesman said the actor got sick and had to stay in Boston, where he’s currently shooting a movie.
