Huntsman defends Cobain comment

Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman made a stop Wednesday at Merrimack High School in New Hampshire, where he greeted students enrolled in the school’s Chinese language course with an enthusiastic “Ni hao.” While there, the subject came up about his former comments during the recent CNN Republican debate linking Mitt Romney‘s book, “No Apology”, with the 90s grunge group Nirvana, where he said “Governor Romney called [Social Security] a fraud in his book No Apology — I don’t know if that was written by Kurt Cobain or not.” On Wednesday, he defended name-dropping the late grunge rocker by saying, “That just sort of came to me … You can’t say ‘no apologies’ on the 20th anniversary and not have Kurt Cobain come to mind” (referring, of course, to the recently released 20th anniversary edition of the group’s album, “Nevermind”).

But Huntsman might want to brush up on his pop culture here. Though Nirvana will always be known for their breakthrough success with “Nevermind” in 1991, the song he referenced during the debate was actually “All Apologies” – from the group’s 1993 album, “In Utero.”
