FAA would require training for drone operators

The Federal Aviation Administration proposed new rules Sunday to govern the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, or drones, including limiting them to daylight hours and requiring that operators be certified.

The new rules would also limit drones to 55 pounds or less and would require that the devices remain within the line of sight of the operator, among other new regulations.

The agency will accept public comments for the next 60 days on the proposed new regulations.
