Bush attack ad wishes Trump a Happy New Year

A new ad from former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush wishes “Happy New Year” to Donald Trump, even as it continues to attack Trump as “dishonest” and a “chaos candidate.”

“In 2015, Trump was unhinged, liberal, dishonest,” reads text appearing onscreen in the ad as an instrumental version of “Auld Lang Syne” plays in the background. “Happy New Year! Chaos candidate.”

The ad runs down a list of the “top five” moments during which Trump appeared chaotic, including when he talked about the Bible, praised Russian president Vladimir Putin, dodged questions about the nuclear triad, encouraged a fight between the Islamic State and Syria without American involvement, and talked about how he gets his advice on foreign policy from television shows.

Trump is poised to spend millions of dollars in ads in 2016, and so far has remained at the top of nationwide polls for months by relying almost entirely on free media coverage.

Trump, who has not yet responded to Bush’s new attack, ranks second in the Washington Examiner‘s newest GOP presidential power rankings. Bush ranks fifth.
