Popular Greek Yogurt producer Chobani is suing conspiracy theorist and InfoWars host Alex Jones for suggesting the company was complicit in sexual assault involving children.
According to a lawsuit filed Monday in Idaho District Court in Twin Falls, the home of Chobani, Jones perpetuated a fabricated story earlier this month insinuating Chobani’s owner Hamdi Ulukaya and the company was linked to a sexual assault case involving refugee children.
The yogurt giant says an April 11 video in which InfoWars claimed the company was “importing migrant rapists” promoted false information in its attempt to urge listeners to boycott the company.
Attorney’s for Chobani tell the Associated Press Jones has refused to remove the inaccurate information.
“He has claimed that the U.S. government orchestrated the 9/11 attacks and the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, Mr. Jones has now taken aim at Chobani and the Twin Falls community,” Chobani’s attorney told AP.
Chobani is seeking $10,000 in damages.
