Palin doc director disses ‘Game Change’

Director Steve Bannon knows a thing or two about making a movie about Sarah Palin. He’s the guy behind the pro-Palin documentary “Undefeated,” and took to the CPAC stage Friday to give Hollywood a smackdown, saying some harsh things about the upcoming HBO flick “Game Change.”

“My film was trying to show, through facts, that she’s not a combination of Caribou Barbie meets Bible Spice, what ‘Game Change’ is trying to show is trying to reinforce that meme that she’s a white trash tart airhead,” Bannon said. “What they planned to do was have it come out four or five days after Super Tuesday and try to blow her up culturally with the American people,” Bannon said, pointing out that the movie’s March release date is smack dab in the middle of primary season and could have hurt a Palin presidential run.

Oddly enough, as Bannon exited the room where he was speaking, the author of “Game Change” John Heilemann was sitting outside in the hall, doing some work. When we pointed this out, Bannon said he didn’t mean for his “Game Change” diss to extend to the book. “The book ‘Game Change’ I think is a brilliant book that shows this titanic epic struggle of Hillary Clinton versus Barack Obama … the Palin stuff is sort of the salacious detail shoehorned in,” he said.
