Sen. Bernie Sanders attempted to downplay his losses in Super Tuesday in an early victory speech after winning his home state of Vermont.
“By the end of tonight we are going to win many hundreds of delegates,” the senator said during his speech.
So far on Super Tuesday, Sanders captured Vermont but lost Georgia and Virginia to Hillary Clinton, with more losses expected as results are still coming in for nine states.
Even though more losses are expected, Sanders said his campaign woudn’t be deterred.
“This is not a general election that is winner-take-all. If you get 52 percent, 48 percent you roughly end up with the same amount of delegates,” Sanders said, referring to the states proportionally allocating delegates based on results.
Sanders’ camp adamantly infers the Vermont senator will likely to stay in the race no matter what happens Tuesday night, with his campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, saying on CNN that Sanders plans to fight to the Democratic National Convention at the end of July.
