Former NBA center Dikembe Mutombo was at Zaventem Airport in Brussels, Belgium, Tuesday morning when twin bombs exploded, killing at least 30 people.
The 18-year NBA veteran, listed at 7 ft. 2 in., posted a photo of the chaos on his Facebook page, assuring his followers that he is fine.
He posted a Facebook photo of himself a few hours later with the message, “Thank you everyone. I am safe here. God is good.”
The Dikembe Mutombo Foundation also released a statement, confirming that Mutombo was there during the time of the Islamic State-coordinated attacks on both the airport and the Maelbeek metro station.
His organization also urged all of its followers to “please join us in keeping Brussels in your thoughts and prayers.”
Mutombo played for six NBA franchises during his career, which spanned from 1991-2009. During that time, he racked up eight All-Star Game appearances and four Defensive Player of the Year awards.
