Cruz, Sanders missing more votes than Rubio in 2016

Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., has taken the most heat for missing Senate votes as he runs for president, but so far in 2016, he’s doing slightly better than Sens. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

The Senate has held five roll call votes so far in 2016, and Rubio has missed three of those five. That’s a tick better than Cruz and Sanders, who have missed four of five.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., who’s also running for president, is a star when it comes to making time for Senate votes this year. Paul has made all five votes.

The other three aren’t doing nearly as well. Cruz, Sanders and Rubio missed Thursday’s vote related to trying to override President Obama’s veto of a resolution aimed at blocking a controversial EPA rule.

On Wednesday, Sanders missed a procedural vote on a refugee bill supported by Republicans.

On Tuesday, all three missed a vote on a judicial nomination.

Last week, Cruz missed a procedural vote, and all three missed a nomination vote.

On the missed votes scorecard, that puts Cruz and Sanders at four missed votes, and Rubio at three.
