Trump: ‘If and when’ Islamic State hits Vatican

Donald Trump said Thursday that he fully expects the Islamic State to attack the Vatican, and said it’s just a matter of “when.”

“If and when the Vatican is attacked by ISIS, which as everyone knows is ISIS’s ultimate trophy, I can promise you that the Pope would have only wished and prayed that Donald Trump would have been president because this would not have happened,” he wrote on Facebook.

According to the Republican presidential hopeful, the militant Islamic organization would have been “eradicated” by now if Trump occupied the Oval Office. Instead, he claimed, Washington is stacked with “no action politicians.”

Trump’s prediction came in the wake of a new battle between himself and the leader of the Catholic Church after Pope Francis claimed “a person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not of building bridges is not Christian.”

The billionaire fired back during an interview with Fox News’ John Roberts Thursday afternoon, highlighting that Vatican City is surrounded by massive walls.

“Honestly the Vatican has massive walls around it,” he said, suggesting that the wall he wants built along the U.S.-Mexico border “should be was like the Vatican.”

“If you look at the walls around the Vatican — I’ve been there — and those are walls,” Trump said.
