Donald Trump, who once declared himself “very pro-choice,” sought to appeal to evangelical conservatives at the annual Values Voter Summit Friday afternoon.
Within minutes of taking the stage, the leading Republican presidential candidate revealed that he arrived at the conference equipped with what he’s previously said is “his favorite book.”
“Most importantly, I brought my Bible,” the billionaire told the crowd as he waved around a ragged copy of scripture. “See, I’m better than you thought.”
The GOP’s leading man has been criticized by several of his opponents for repeatedly refusing to disclose his favorite Bible verse.
Asked during an interview with Bloomberg politics in August if there was one verse that particularly spoke to him, Trump responded: “The Bible means a lot to me, but I don’t want to get into specifics.”
