Donald Trump defended his Trump University against Marco Rubio and Megyn Kelly’s probing during the GOP debate, despite a D minus rating from the Better Business Bureau.
The business mogul is currently involved in a class action suit with over 5,000 plaintiiffs for his business “Trump University,” a business school that failed to meet expectations. GOP debate moderator Megyn Kelly claimed that participants reported they’d been “fleeced” by the program.
“The lead plaintiff is now getting out of the case because it’s so bad for her. The lead plaintiff signed a letter saying how great it was and is on tape saying how great it was,” Trump said on Thursday night.
Rubio jumped into the exchange, claiming that he spoke to one of Trump University’s victims and that they were conned by Trump’s scheme. The Florida senator added that the university was a “scam,” and that Trump refused to gave many people their money back. Kelly reminded Trump that one-third of the plaintiffs requested refunds for his course.
“He’s trying to do to the American people what he did to people in this course. He’s making promises he can’t keep,” Rubio said. “He’s trying to con people into giving him their vote just like he conned these people into giving him their money.”
