Bill Cosby’s New Year’s Eve message backfires

Comedian Bill Cosby shared a brief message to friends and fans, one day after he was charged with sexual assaulting a woman in a 2004 case.

“Friends and fans, Thank you,” the 78-year-old tweeted from his official Twitter account Thursday, just hours before 2016 begins.

Cosby is best known for his role as family patriarch Cliff Huxtable in “The Cosby Show”, a sitcom that aired from 1984 to 1992. He is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a former Temple University employee at his mansion in Pennsylvania in 2004.

This is the first criminal charge facing Cosby, who has denied any wrongdoing, despite roughly 50 women alleging he sexually assaulted them as far back at 1969.

The Twitterverse responded to his New Year’s Eve message.
