Hundreds of VIPs packed the tents at the Collection at Chevy Chase Tuesday night for its five-year anniversary celebrationand Capitol File magazine’s cover party with model, designer and FEED Projects co-founder Lauren Bush.
Bush, who is the niece of former President George W. Bush and granddaughter of President George H.W. Bush, is refreshingly unaffected by her family’s fame. The recently engaged gal smiled and chatted with every party goer who approached her. She told Yeas & Nays that, even though she hasn’t modeled in a while, it was a very big honor for her to be chosen for the glossy’s Spring cover. “I sort of stepped away from modeling and have been focusing on FEED so it’s not something that I do often, so it’s fun. It was a really fun experience.”
Bush says the idea for FEED, whose mission is to create good products that help feed the world, started with one bag that she designed seven years ago. “The idea is to combine giving back with philanthropy and design [which are both my passions] and to make giving back really easy and accessible to do through a consumer product.” She also tells us that she hopes people who have a little will give back and be mindful of those who are less fortunate.
With Bush’s mission being to provide meals for children and the first lady’s campaign for healthy school lunches, could we maybe see some sort of partnership in the future? We’re not sure, but Bush did tell us that she supports the first lady’s efforts.
“Michelle Obama has really led the way with this cause. I think it’s wonderful that she is highlighting this issue.” FEED Projects has provided more than 59 million meals to hungry children across the globe.
