It’s unclear what MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough meant Friday when he tweeted a joke about Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly’s clothes.
“Amazing coincidence here,” Scarborough wrote. “Eric Sevareid wore the same outfit this day in 1941 reporting on RAFs raid of French port.” Attached to the tweet was a photo of Kelly’s recent appearance on the late night show “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
Sevareid was a correspondent for CBS News and rose to prominence reporting on World War II.
On “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, Kelly wore a sleeveless blue dress that featured a cutout above her chest.
Scarborough, who regularly wears sweatshirts and shoes without socks on his MSNBC show, has not tweeted since he made the comment and an MSNBC spokesperson did not return a request for comment. Kelly also did not return a request for comment, however she has been known to answer her critics using her Fox News program.
In a 2012 interview with the New York Times, Scarborough’s co-host, Mika Brzezinski, described Scarborough as “a little bit like a gay stylist.”
“Seriously,” she said. “Talk to his wife or any of her friends. He has got a real side to him that knows style and look and color and hair. He’s amazing. Amazing.”
