In this tough economy, could one company want to take any chances with an old superstition?
Seems that way. The office building located at 666 11th St. NW is switching its address to 1100 G St. NW after months of having several of its suites go unsold.
So are they hoping that a new address will attract more tenants that may have been turned off by having to design their company’s stationary and sign their work e-mails with the “number of the beast”?
Not true, says the downtown building’s owners.
“There’s nothing that traumatic with the name change,” said Karen Widmeyer, director of communications for J Street Co. “There’s no problem with the name. … It’s just part of the rebranding we’re doing,” she assured us. “Rebranding” for the superstitious?
Interestingly though, it seems that this building stands as one of the few in Washington to have the address 666. A check in the yellow pages shows it as the only listing in Washington, D.C., to be listed with the number.
Maybe Washington’s just been a little on edge since the taping of the “Exorcist.”
