Shocker: Council Member pays parking tickets

Even though D.C. Council members don’t have to pay for parking tickets within the District, Kwame Brown is proving that he’s just like the rest of us.

Brown’s Mercedes-Benz was towed last week near Metro Center and, and he was hit with a $100 fine.

Environmental consultant Adam Landsman spotted Brown’s car being loaded up on the back of a truck near Metro Center with the Council Member sticker on his license plate, according to DCist. Landsman was interested to see if Brown was planning to pay the ticket, even though he easily could have had the fine quashed.

Brown responded to an inquiry by Landsman about the incident, and said he plans to pay the ticket because he was not doing official business when he was fined. He was buying auction items for his daughter’s elementary school and spent longer than anticipated in the store.
