Sen. Rand Paul warned Monday that voters should avoid front-runner Donald Trump, because Trump’s know-it-all approach to government would only put more power in the hands of the huge federal bureaucracy that needs to be reduced.
The Kentucky senator was on the Glenn Beck radio show Monday when he said, “The reason why I think … it would be a mistake to sort of elect or moderate someone who believes in their all-powerful, all-knowing sort of narcissism, is that …”
“Are you calling Donald Trump a narcissist?” Beck interrupted.
“Yeah, I know it’s a stretch,” Paul said. “I know it’s an understatement.”

“What worries me about it from a point of view of liberty is that when someone says they’re all-knowing and that they are so smart … and can figure things out, it sounds like they want you to give them more power,” Paul said. “And the biggest problem I see in our country is we’ve given too much power to the presidency.”
Paul also downplayed Trump’s huge lead in the polls by saying people aren’t reading the poll results correctly.
“I don’t think we’re getting to polling that’s very accurate yet,” he said.
“I think we’re getting to polling that is of ‘leaners,’ because most of the polls, two-thirds of the people in the polls are saying, ‘Well, I’m undecided,'” Paul said. “Then they’re saying, ‘No no no, who are you for if you had to make a choice?'” Paul added.
He said the media in particular is not very good at math, and is interpreting very early polls to mean Trump has an insurmountable lead.
“Because it’s a number, they think it’s math,” Paul told Beck. “Oh, someone has 21 percent. Oh, that’s math, it must be certain.”
“Well, there’s no certainty at all to these things, and I predict that you’re going to see a great deal of upheaval and switch by the time we actually get to the election,” Paul said.
Trump remains atop the Washington Examiner‘s power rankings, while Paul was in eighth place.
