Obama makes surprise trip to Paris attacks site

In Paris for the international climate summit, President Obama made a surprise stop to the Bataclan concert hall early Monday morning, Paris time.

He was accompanied by French President Francois Hollande and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo.

All three of them laid white roses at the site, while saying nothing to nearby media. The streets near the site were deserted, and the trip had been planned for a few days, but kept secret, according to Agence France-Presse.

The Bataclan was the site of the deadliest portion of the Nov. 13 Paris terrorist attacks that have been attributed to the Islamic State.

Jihadists held up the concert hall, and took hostages, before summarily executing scores of them in a grisly tragedy that was watched on television and through sharing on social media around the world. The Paris attacks killed 130.
