GOP leaders hold own State of the Union

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell wasn’t the only one who wanted a chance to rebut President Obama’s State of the Union — other conservative activists were eager to pick on him as well.

Media Research Center President Brent Bozell, Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips and Family Research Council President Tony Perkins united with six other conservative leaders Tuesday night to respond to Obama’s address through a live webcast that was broadcast to more than 28,000 people.

“In his budget and SOTU address, President Obama set forth his agenda,” Perkins said. “An agenda that discourages and even discriminates against that which should be encouraged: strong families, vibrant religious freedom and effective national security.”
