Speakeasy: Eastwood has zingers ready for reporters

“I didn’t know they were that smart.”

One of Clint Eastwood‘s one-liners when asked to respond to the revelation that President George H.W. Bush, behind closed doors, had discussed the actor, director and former mayor as a potential running mate in 1988. Eastwood was in town earlier this week to promote his new film “J. Edgar” and made this quip to reporters on the red carpet. He also told the Daily Caller that Bush “must have been drinking” and asked ABC’s George Stephanopoulos, “why would I want to play a supporting role?”
