Cruz crushes Trump in Wyoming

Sen. Ted Cruz won big in the Wyoming county conventions Saturday.

Cruz won nine delegates, while Rubio and Trump won one each. Another delegate was uncommitted.

Cruz’s victory in Wyoming marks a clear trend in his favor in lower population, prairie states. Cruz has also won in Kansas, Idaho and Oklahoma.

Trump’s sole delegate came in Teton county, the location of the affluent Jackson Hole.

Unique in the United States, Wyoming’s GOP votes by county for twelve of its delegates, awarding one delegate to one candidate per county.

On top of the twelve, Wyoming has 17 more delegates, bringing the state’s total to 29. Fourteen of those delegates will awarded at the state convention in April, and three are considered RNC delegates tied to the state winner.
