Etch A Sketch, the 50-year-old toy from Ohio Art, is enjoying lots of press attention in the wake of Mitt Romney campaign aide Eric Fehrnstrom‘s suggestion that Romney would start over with a new tone in the fall, “almost like an Etch A Sketch.” Romney opponents pounced, and reporters laid seige to Ohio Art spokeswoman Nicole Gresh, who hadn’t gotten a media inquiry about Etch A Sketch in 10 months.
Gresh told Yeas & Nays that the company is happy to see the toy in the news but remains politically neutral. She seemed amused by the buzz around Fehrnstrom’s remark. “I think it’s just a funny type of lighthearted remark he had made,” she said. “Personally, I didn’t give it too much thought.”
