It seems as though actors constantly stream into town to rub shoulders with politicians for their pet causes, but on Tuesday morning, it gets personal.
Jeff Daniels and Kyle MacLachlan will be on the Hill tomorrow — along with close to 500 grass-roots arts supporters — as part of Arts Advocacy Day.
The actors will meet with House leadership and Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., to talk arts. In previous years, this day has formed some friendships between lawmakers and celebs.
“You never know what’s going to happen,” Americans for the Arts spokeswoman Liz Bartolomeo told Yeas & Nays. “Last year I recall Rep. Hoyer asked Josh Groban, who was one of our representing artists, to sing on cue.”
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Robert Redford formed a friendship on Arts Advocacy Day years ago, and just last year Pelosi presented the actor with a National Arts award.
Beyond presence on the Hill, Americans for the Arts Artist Committee members Yoko Ono, Groban and John Legend will Tweet their support for the arts throughout the day.
