Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is out with a new campaign ad, asking voters what they would do with the $2,000 Bush claims Americans would save under his tax plan.
The Republican presidential hopeful released a detailed tax reform plan in early September focused on accelerating economic growth by slashing taxes on middle income earners and corporations, in addition to simplifying the existing tax code. He calls it the “Reform and Growth Act of 2017.”
“Under Jeb’s tax plan, the average middle-class family would save nearly $2,000”, claims the new video released Monday. In an effort to show voters how those savings could impact their day-to-day lives, the Bush campaign lists a number of general living expenses that would be easily covered by $2,000, including: two monthly mortgage payments, gasoline for eight months, six monthly electricity bills or a “stocked fridge for 90 days.”
Americans for Tax Reform responded to Bush’s tax plan with an overall positive rating. They described his decision to raise taxes on carried interest capital gains, however, as an “unfortunate element.”Bush currently holds the No. 6 spot in the Washington Examiner‘s presidential power rankings.
