For 15 years, Placido Domingo has been the general director the Washington National Opera, but in June the curtain will close on his tenure. Domingo, however, is going out with a bang. On Tuesday, the Opera company announced five new productions developed by the famous tenor. Included in the 2011-2012 season are Puccini’s “Tosca”, which Domingo will personally conduct, Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermore”, Mozart’s “Cosi Fan Tutte”, the premier of Verdi’s “Nabucco” and Massenet’s “Werther.” These selections represent an opera season of “dramatic tension and sparkling scores,” stated Domingo. Bravo, maestro.
