Christie ad: GOP field should keep eyes on Clinton

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s presidential campaign responded to incoming attacks from Florida Sen. Marco Rubio’s supporters.

Christie frequently favors a confrontational style — he aggressively shut down a heckler at an event on Tuesday — but his ad takes a different approach. The ad acknowledges the Rubio team’s attacks before showing text onscreen that reads, “Republicans Keep Your Eye On The Ball” and “We Must Defeat Hillary Clinton.”

“Do not be fooled, any significant division within the Republican Party leads to the same awful result – Hillary Rodham Clinton in January of 2017 taking the oath of office as president of the United States,” Christie says in the ad. “This country cannot afford that outcome, and thus we Republicans have a duty – I believe a profound, moral duty – to work together.”

The ad, titled “We Need To Keep Our Eye On The Ball,” will air in New Hampshire. The campaign also announced future ad buys in Iowa and South Carolina and the addition of six new hires to its campaign staff.

Christie, who ranks fourth in the Washington Examiner‘s newest GOP presidential power rankings, remains on the campaign trail in New Hampshire.
