Former first lady attends Brinker book party

Former first lady Laura Bush made a surprise appearance at the British Embassy Thursday night to show her support for Ambassador Nancy Brinker‘s new memoir, “Promise Me: How a Sister’s Love Launched the Global Movement to End Breast Cancer”. The book describes how Brinker’s involvement with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the breast cancer movement helped change the face of breast cancer around the world. Also in attendance were Illinois Rep. Aaron Schock, R-Ill., Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Richard Holbrooke, Hadassah Lieberman, British Ambassador Nigel Sheinwald and his wife, Lady Julia Sheinwald.
