Trump ‘is just killing it’ in New York with 43-point lead

Donald Trump has a massive 43-point lead in New York over his Republican presidential rivals, according to a new poll.

With 60 percent support in the Empire State, Trump “is just killing it,” according to Baruch College pollster Mickey Blum. In the NY1/Baruch College survey released late Monday, Ohio Gov. John Kasich has 17 percent and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has 14 percent.

“This could really be his road to getting enough to win it outright before he ever gets to that [Republican National] Convention,” Blum said of the April 19 primary.

In next week’s contest, New York will award 95 delegates: 15 to the statewide winner and 81 others divided up by winner of congressional district.

Numerous other polls have also shown Trump with a substantive lead.

In the delegate race to 1,237, Trump has 743, Cruz has 545 and Kasich has 141.

In a general election matchup, Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton beats Trump in New York, 51 percent to 35 percent. Clinton’s rival, Bernie Sanders, beats Trump in New York 54 percent to 32 percent.

The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 5.8 percentage points in the Republican primary and 2.9 percentage points in the general election.
