New Rubio ad: ‘America needs a real commander in chief’

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio released a new televised ad on Tuesday that will begin airing in the early nominating states.

“Barack Obama released terrorists from Guantanamo, and now they are plotting to attack us,” Rubio says in the ad. “Instead of fighting to fund our troops, he fights to fund Planned Parenthood. He spies on Israel, and cut a deal with Iran. His plan after the attack in San Bernardino: Take away our guns. While ISIS is beheading people, burning them in cages, he says climate change is our greatest threat. I’m Marco Rubio. I approve this message because America needs a real commander in chief and a president that will keep us safe.”

The new 30-second TV ad follows the format of past Rubio ads where Rubio looks directly into the camera and states his message, which has often featured a critique of the Obama administration. But a super PAC supporting Rubio’s campaign — Conservative Solutions PAC — has taken to the air to attack his rivals on the campaign trail, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

The Florida senator is stumping in Iowa on Tuesday, and will return to New Hampshire later this week. Rubio ranks third in the Washington Examiner‘s newest GOP presidential power rankings.
