The “poor slobs” in the White House press corps got was coming to them.
An espresso machine from Tom Hanks, of course.
When Hanks visited Washington in March to promote the HBO series “The Pacific,” he stopped by the White House to see how the corps was taking care of the espresso machine he gave them in 2004.
Surprised to see that the machine looking dingy and not functioning properly, the actor promised to send another.
“Let me see what I can do for the poor slobs in the fourth estate here,” Hanks said in March. “You know you are supposed to clean this after every use.”
Well, as Yeas & Nays reported earlier, the actor was true to his word. But instead of sending the machine directly to the White House, he shipped it to Tammy Haddad, who personally delivered the machine to the briefing area Tuesday afternoon.
According to Reuters correspondent Caren Bohan, Hanks even supplied the crew with espresso and engraved cappuccino cups.
“It’s like Christmas!” one reporter said according to Bohan’s posts on Twitter.
MSNBC reports the machine is a The Pasquini Livia 90 Auto that starts at about $2,000.
We guess the best part of waking up … is Tom Hanks bought your cup.
