POTUS reaches out to Giffords on shooting anniversary

It’s kind of hard to believe that a year has gone by since Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Ariz., almost had her life snatched away from her in a Safeway parking lot near Tuscon, Ariz. On Sunday, in advance of a planned candlelight vigil commemorating the anniversary, President Obama reached out to the congresswoman, according to the White House Press Office. “The president expressed amazement at the courage and determination Rep. Giffords has shown along her incredible road to recovery, calling her an inspiration to his family and Americans across the country,” reporters were told.
