Both Democratic congressional fundraising arms out-raised their Republican counterparts in February, but still have less in the bank than the Republican committees.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee boasted that it outraised the National Republican Senatorial Committee last month by $1.4 million; the DSCC raised $6.2 million while the NRSC raised $4.8 million.
“As Senate Republicans continue their unprecedented obstruction of their constitutional duties in refusing to consider the president’s nomination of a new justice to the Supreme Court and are forced to answer for their toxic presidential front-runner, we are honored to have the support of so many Americans who know that a Democratic-controlled Senate is how we will end the current state of shutdown politics,” stated DSCC Executive Director Tom Lopach.
The DSCC has $15.2 million cash on hand; the NRSC has $16.2 million.
“Only Washington Democrats would be proud to be nearly $8 million in debt and have less cash in the bank than Republicans,” NRSC spokeswoman Andrea Bozek shot back.
The DSCC is approximately $8 million in the red while the NRSC has no debt.
Meanwhile, House Democrats’ fundraiser, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, raised $7.1 million in February while the National Republican Congressional Committee raised $6.3 million.
However, the DCCC banked only $37 million compared to the NRCC’s $39 million.
Both Democratic committees have been hammering incumbent Republican lawmakers and candidates for presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s controversial comments.
