Fresh off declaring himself the “Ernest Hemingway of 140 characters,” Donald Trump was at it again Saturday, laying into New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Bobby Jindal, who recently withdrew from the Republican race for president.
“To show you how politicians act, Bobby Jindal spent $1,000 to register in New Hampshire & dropped out the next day. Such a waste,” Trump said of the now-departed Jindal.
Of de Blasio, he said, “We’re stuck with the worst mayor in the United States. Too bad, but New York City will survive!”
Trump also went after Republican Liz Mair, formerly, and briefly, of Scott Walker’s campaign for president, who has founded a campaign group against Trump, Trump Card LLC.
“A woman who got fired after two days of working with Scott Walker – a wacko – now trying to raise funds to fight me,” Trump tweeted.
The charge of Mair’s group — “In the absence of our efforts, Trump is exceedingly unlikely to implode or be forced out of the race” — is crystal-clear and adversarial to Trump’s political ambitions. The Wall Street Journal describes Mair’s group as a “self-styled guerilla campaign.”
Trump also scooped his Twitter audience on the rumors he’s hearing that several of his lower-polling adversaries in the GOP nomination fight are considering dropping out.
Trump tweeted Saturday, “Rumor has it – Pataki, Kasich, & Senator Lindsey Graham are dropping out of the race very soon. Hope it’s not true, they’re so easy to beat!”
