New York socialite and handbag designer Tinsley Mortimer said socialites can be anywhere — but her expression said only in New York and Los Angeles. When we asked Mortimer point blank if she believed there are real socialites in D.C., the Richmond native bit her lip and said a not-so-resounding “Sure.”
We caught Mortimer, who starred in the failed reality show “High Society” and briefly appeared on “Gossip Girl,” after she spent a busy few days at New York Fashion Week — Mark Zahra was her favorite — before flying into town Thursday evening to join “Outsourced” star Pippa Black for an event to unveil the American Humane Association’s new downtown headquarters.
AHA moved its offices from Denver to D.C. to be closer to where things are happening, which, notably, isn’t New York City.
