D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown didn’t mind that he didn’t hit his goal time on Sunday’s St. Patrick’s Day 8K race. Brown, who runs at least 40 minutes every day, had predicted a mark of 38 minutes but landed at 41, a miss he excused on account of a recent injury.
“I feel like I pulled something in my leg,” Brown said of the mysterious injury, which he described as “self-diagnosed” and “self-fixed.” He affixed some blame for the slower time to his love of chicken wings, but is prepared to perform more impressively in next week’s Rock and Roll Marathon.
