Former MSNBC political consultant Karen Finney will soon be working for the liberal watchdog group Media Matters, Politico reported Tuesday.
Finney, a former Democratic National Committee spokeswoman, exited MSNBC earlier this month.
The former DNC spokeswoman has been hired by Media Matters to “write regular commentary pieces for Media Matters in addition to continuing her independent consultancy and other projects,” the watchdog group said in a statement, according to Politico.
Finney added: “Media Matters does indispensable work exposing lies, misinformation, and vitriol from conservative media. I’m thrilled to be working with them.”
The former MSNBC personality, who currently works as a freelancer, has years of experience working for the Clintons, the political dynasty highly favored by Media Matters founder David Brock.
Brock said of the Finney hire: “As the media looks ahead to 2016, we are excited to have Karen’s voice and considerable experience contributing to that conversation.”
“Her extensive background in political and communications strategy will be crucial as Media Matters continues to look for new ways to push back on misinformation from the right,” he added.
Brock oversees a second group called Correct the Record — an offshoot of his super PAC American Bridge — whose sole purpose is to run defense for Democratic presidential candidates in 2016, most especially Hillary Clinton, the Washington Post reported.
The Clintons have a “forward-thinking commitment to change that threatens the political and social order of the conservatives,” Brock said in a separate report. “They were a very young and dynamic progressive couple. We hadn’t seen the likes of them before, and I think it scared people.”
Finney’s familiarity with the Clinton clan will likely come in handy as she transitions into working for the Brock empire.
