Vieira hits ‘Rock Center’

Former “Today” show anchor Meredith Vieira has a new job as a special correspondent for a new Brian Williams-anchored newsmagazine, “Rock Center with Brian Williams,” according to an announcement Tuesday from NBC News president Steve Capus — who described the 57-year old TV veteran as “a top-flight first-rate newsmagazine correspondent on ‘West 57th’ at CBS,” adding, “I never missed an episode or a story that she worked on. Nothing has changed in all these years.”

The name of the Williams’ new show was released a day before, but not after a lot of speculative debate by NBC executives — who considered calling it “Studio 30” before finding it too close to Aaron Sorkin‘s drama, “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.”
