Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson sent out a fundraising email Friday afternoon reiterating his joke from Thursday’s night debate, “Can somebody attack me, please?”
The former neurosurgeon, who has been struggling to remain relevant in the GOP presidential race has focused on rivals Donald Trump, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., urged his supporters to donate to keep his campaign afloat through the Super Tuesday primaries next week.
Carson is trailing among the five remaining contenders in the race, ranking fifth in the Washington Examiner’s presidential power rankings. He is currently receiving 5.8 percent support in RealClearPolitics.com’s polling average.
Despite requesting being attacked, Carson said he was “absolutely committed” to staying in the race because “there is still a place in presidential politics for civility, positivity and common-sense solutions.”
