Third-ranked Republican presidential candidate John Kasich was the only conservative in a new Bloomberg poll who beat Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in the hypothetical match-up.
Kasich received 47 percent of support from likely general election voters compared to Clinton’s 43 percent, according to the March 19-22 poll.
“For those wondering why Kasich hasn’t dropped out of the race — with his distant third-place showing in delegates — that is the reason,” said J. Ann Selzer, who oversaw the survey.
Kasich performed best with married parents, whites, Catholics and men, receiving more than 53 percent of support from all of those groups.
GOP front-runner Donald Trump lost to Clinton 36 percent to 54 percent. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz also lost to Clinton, but by a smaller margin of 42 percent to her 51 percent.
