Jeb Bush’s policy views are as outdated as the 1993 pop hit “Macarena,” or the 1980s soap opera Dynasty, according to a new ad by John Kasich’s campaign team.
In what may be the most bizarre ad of the 2016 season thus far, the Ohio governor likened the former Florida governor’s positions on Obamacare, the Islamic State and job creation to outdated inventions and cultural phenomena, like Colecovision and the Sony Betamax.
“The latest ad from Jeb’s team forgot to check the box for ‘Which governor is living in the past because he has no new ideas for fixing anything?'” said Kasich for America Press Secretary Rob Nichols. But Nichols said Kasich is happy to be attacked by Bush because it shows Kasich is ahead in some states.
“You only attack those you fear and who’s beating you, so this latest attack by Jeb on Gov. Kasich only reaffirms the governor’s strength in New Hampshire. It’s actually flattering,” he said.
Bush is fifth ranked in the Washington Examiner’s presidential power rankings, while Kasich is ranked sixth.
