Kasich: I’d ‘be the worst vice president the country ever saw’

Republican presidential candidate John Kasich said there was a “zero” chance he would consider being GOP front-runner Donald Trump’s running mate despite his last-ranked position in the race for the nomination.

“I’m not gonna be anybody’s vice president. I would be the worst vice president the country ever saw because I’m not like a vice president, I’m a president,” Kasich told CNN host Anderson Cooper during a town hall Monday night.

Kasich’s refusal comes less than a day after the GOP front-runner hinted at picking him or Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, another former presidential candidate, as his second in command.

Although the Ohio governor significantly trails Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, having lost more than 30 state primaries and caucuses to the duo, he remained adamant about his intentions to run through the July convention.

The town hall, which included John’s wife Karen and his twin 16-year-old daughters Emma and Reese, painted the candidate in a more personal light. Trump’s family will be featured in a similar CNN town hall Tuesday night.

Kasich has focused the past few days campaigning in New York ahead of the Empire State’s April 19 primary, where he is ranked second to Trump.
