Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer says the the idea of Islamic extremists tracking him on social media is a “dream come true.”
Meyer, a Marine veteran who was awarded the honor by President Obama in 2011 based on his actions during the Battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan in 2009, is known for his loud social media presence — and has refused to quiet down on the Internet despite a government warning.
The FBI issued on Monday a bulletin to U.S. military members, saying that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria is using social media to track and possibly attack them.
“Let me say what a lot of us are thinking … If [the Islamic State] is using social media to track me, that’s a dream come true in my book. These guys are a bunch of bullies that just prey on the weak,” Meyer told Scout.com.
“Actually, I think this warning should be taken seriously by all military members. I would hate for [the Islamic State] to go to anyone else’s home and for me to miss the opportunity to meet and greet them. I’ll take the responsibility to be the liaison for the military. I live in Columbia, Kentucky — oops, is that too much information? Oh well,”Meyer added.
Meyer tweeted out a photo Tuesday night of himself holding a sword with the caption, “Wonder if any ISIS members want to drop by and join my book club.”
Meyer is the second youngest living and first living Marine in 38 years to receive the honor.
